No More Wisdom for Jennifer and Jessica

Jennifer and Jessica had their wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday, so we are staying in Maryland this weekend as they recover. Jennifer only had a total of three (3) teeth removed and has done quite well on her recovery. Jessica had a total of four (4) teeth removed of which two (2) teeth which were impacted and required drilling so she has been in a lot of pain and her recovery is taking longer.

Ray Jr is installing the thresholds on the doors at Zelda this week prior to their family heading to South Dakota next week. This should be the end of interior work with the exception of the master bedroom sitting room fireplace.

We have order a two (2) space metal carport to be installed next to the storage building/barn and it should be installed in the next two (2) weeks.

We will meet with the real estate agent next weekend to sign the papers and get Zelda on the market. Brent is planning on cleaning out the entire house of all tools and materials and either storing in the barn or bring back to Maryland.

Is That A Light At The End of the Tunnel?

We drove back down to Zelda for a three (3) day work week on Thursday evening (July 15, 2010) and arrived around 2:00 am on Friday morning.  This weekend we continued with installing the shoe molding, interior painting and caulking.  The shoe molding is complete with the exception of the bedroom closets, the downstairs laundry room and the pantry.  Also, the pot filler faucet was attached, the gas for the keeping room fireplace connected and the fake logs installed.  Outside, the brick skirt around the bottom outside perimeter of Zelda was painted black.  The broken pieces of tile on the entrance sidewalk steps were removed and some saved for rework.

We also meet with real estate agents and we have made our decision.  Looks like Zelda will be on the market around August 1, 2010, for an asking price around $300k.  The agent commented that nothing needed to be done on the inside as it was beautiful and the flow was great.  Everyone commented on the kitchen and the true master bedroom suite.  We are going to install a two (2) car metal carport to house the new owner's vehicles and we will put some landscaping.

Our next trip is scheduled for the last weekend in July has again it will be a three (3) day work week.  We will be clearing all the tools and few items remaining in Zelda to store in the outside storage area.  After three (3) years of work, we are hoping that it is truly a light at the end of the tunnel and not a train.

The new pot filler.

The pot filler will swing over three (3) of the burners.

Year Three at Zelda

After two (2) weekends off from Zelda, we returned late Friday night for the weekend. Brent continued with installing the quarter round on the baseboard and finished the kitchen, downstairs bathroom, keeping room and foyer. Then he moved upstairs and finished the hall bathroom, the hall and one bedroom before running out of material. Brent also hooked up the gas to the stove and tested for leaks. No leaks and the gas range worked perfectly

Lynn and the girls were busy outside applying Kilz primer to the front of the house where the original primer applied in October had begun to peel. It was strange has there were certain sections that were peeling and not the entire area and it was contained only on the front of the house. The girls also applied caulk were Brent has installed the shoe molding.

The yard look completely different because the Emmanuel Baptist Church youth group has cleaned the fence lines of the yard and hauled away misc trash in the yard and yes, the giant satellite dish.

This weekend, we plan to meet with real estate agents and put Zelda on the market the first of August.

Tuesday will mark the 3rd year anniversary of work on Zelda. July 13, 2007, was the first day that we received a dumpster on site. Time does fly but sometimes it crawls.

All the trees and brush along the west fence line are gone.

The brush and trees were about five (5) feet thick.

No more satellite dish in the back yard.

There was a fenced dog yard in the back yard.

The entire area was full of trees and brush.

A view of the cleared south fence line.

Another look at the former dog yard.
