Ready to be Electrified

Well the fantastic four plus Cookie, traveled back across the mountains from Gatlinburg to Kings Mountain. Our electrican continues to make steady progress and has called for the inspection this week. Yes I said he as called for the inspection this week. He was able to install the sconse over the stairway.

Brent reinstalled the kitchen sink cabinet and placed the farmers sink in the cabinet, as our granite countertop installers will be coming to Zelda on Tuesday to take measurements. The sink is an apron style that is stainless steel which matches all the appliances. We also received our pot filler faucet that will be installed after the back splash is completed.

No additional work has been performed on the trim work as the Workman are busy with roofs in the area. Hopefully rain will enter the area for a settle in for a spell.

Brent finished the downstairs shower. He was never happier to complete a project than that shower. He really does not want to use the small tiles again, but I am sure he will change his mind as time passes. Lynn will have the fun job of removing the mortar between the tiles and the grouting next weekend.

The twins worked and completed the painting on the front two (2) bedrooms. This includes all the doors, walls and taping and painting all the trim. We have crown molding in every room and baseboards. The taping is time consuming but is worth the effort. Then when finished with those rooms, they started on the master bedroom.

Lynn finished grouting the masterbath room floor and then started painting all the walls. Next week the trim work will be attacked.

We are always thankful for a a safe ride over and back and look forward to more improvements and progress on Zelda.

We have a shout out Neal & Bettie C. of Baton Rouge, LA.

Shower Done Except for the Trim

This week Brent worked on the downstairs shower and now only needs to finish the trim pieces around the edges. He says he will not work with 6x6 tiles again for a shower. It looks great and we should be able to grout next weekend.

Our electrician was at Zelda and is nearing completion. He told Brent that he will finish this week and will call for the inspection. We also have another person working on fabricating a stair banister in our stair opening to the keeping, who also cut out the sink cabinet to fit our stainless farmer's sink.

Jennifer and Jessica helped out this week by painting the trim, the beadboard, sanding and caulking. They have finished the upstairs hallway and almost finished another bedroom.

Cookie did her usual of exploring rooms, sleeping and playing outside in the backyard. After returning to Gatlinburg, she get her bath to remove the dirt.

Congradulations to Matt and Rhi of Chattanooga, TN on the adoption of their new daughter Paige.

Two Years at Zelda

This weekend marks the second anniversary of working at Zelda. We feel like the inch worm as work is slow but steady. Lynn and Brent drove over to continue work this Saturday and bring a stackable washer and gas dryer that Brent purchased off Graig's list.

Lynn worked on filling nail holes and caulking inside, while Brent continued with the downstairs shower. Lynn was able to finish the upstairs hallway such that painting can begin next weekend.
Brent has now completed about 75% of the shower walls and expects to finish next weekend. Our electrician was working and testing circuits and we also had a person come by to look at duplicating our stair handrail and spindles for the opening in the stairwell to the keeping room.

The newlyweds, Renee and Greg returned safe and sound from Alaska back to their home in Raleigh, NC.

We found some granite for the kitchen counter tops and Brent will place the order this week. The fabricator sent us a sample and it really looks good, so that is one more thing to mark of the to list.

We have a shout out to Thomas W. of Soddy Daisy, TN.

Greg and Renee Wed on June 27th

We have been busy the last few weeks, not with Zelda but with all the activities surrounding Renee and Greg's wedding. The wedding was beautiful and so was the bride. We had a great time at the rehearsal dinner and reception. The newlyweds are currently cruising in Alaska.

Brent did stop by Zelda on Thursday, June 25th and did some work. He dropped off the new gas stove he purchased off Graig's List and ran a few errands for the electrician. He did put in a few rows of the 6"x6" tiles in the downstairs shower. Afterwards, he headed to Raleigh that night.

After the wedding, on Sunday, the majority of the family drove over to Zelda and then to Dillsboro, NC to eat Sunday dinner at the Jarret House. This has been a staple of our family dining for decades. Afterwards, we drove through the Smoky Mountains to our house in Gatlinburg.

On July 2nd, Lynn and Brent drove over the mountains back to Zelda to continue work for the day. We did pick up our first load of wood flooring from Lowes and brought to Kings Mountain. Lynn worked on filling nail holes in the bead board, chair railing, door frames and crown molding. Brent continued work on tiling the downstairs shower and worked until he ran out of tiles. Our electrician was there working on the lights and installing the receptacles. We were also missing a couple of lights so we ran to both Lowes and Home Depot to get the final two (2) interior lights and the outside spot lights.
